Australia's cattle exports went up 23% in H1 2018
The largest growth in cattle shipments was driven by the Chinese market. Australia exported 52,259 cattle in the first half of 2018, with a year-over-year increase of 65%.
On the other hand, the country's cattle exports to Indonesia reported a slight decrease amounting to 213,033 head.
Increases in shipments of cattle were also reported for other markets. Vietnam imported 4% more cattle from Australia, a total of 98,179 head in the mentioned period.
Meanwhile, shipments to Israel also increased by 42% to 20,914 head and those to Malaysia rose by 128% to 15,363 head.
Beef Central further reports that Australia's feeder cattle shipments increased by 20% to 315,2017 head in the first six months of 2018 compared to the similar period from 2017. Slaughter cattle exports rose to 124,470 head, with a 37% increase, and breeder cattle exports were 47,538 head, with an increase of 9%.
